The Tallboy is a short-travel bike with long legs. Our perennial 29-inch bike has gone on a diet and bulked up the amount of travel to fit the kind of rider looking to maximize power hours or just ride all the hours. It’s light and efficient enough to climb with the best of them, yet punches way above its weight class as soon as the trail turns down. Excellent suspension, big wheels, thoroughly-tuned carbon layup and rock-solid reliability let you go as hard as you want.

Preguntas frecuentes

The Tallboy geometry is designed for a 140mm fork with 44mm offset. We wouldn't recommend less travel than that, as the BB will get a bit low. Up to 150mm is ok if that's your preference.

The Tallboy comes with a custom OneUp upper chainguide. There are no ISCG-05 tabs on this model, so if you need a bashguard look for a chainring-mounted solution.

No, the Tallboy is built exclusively for 29" wheels. Trying to convert to other wheel sizes will negatively affect geometry, handling, and performance.

This bike uses integrated headset cups. The upper cup is 41mm and the lower cup is 52mm. The SHIS name is IS 41/28.6 IS 52/40. For Chris King this is a DropSet.3

The Tallboy is built to be compatible with most trail shocks on the market, including the Fox Float X and Rockshox Super Deluxe. Downhill/Enduro shocks like the Vivid or Fox X2 are not compatible. The correct size is 185x50 Trunnion with 8x25mm hardware.

The Tallboy will safely fit a 2.4" rear tire.

The bike ships in Low setting, and this has been the favorite for most riders. If you are in particularly technical terrain and need more pedal clearance, or if you want a more forward weight-balance, definitely give High a try.

The Tallboy comes with 130mm of rear travel and that is the max it was designed to handle. The seatstay bridge can collide with the seattube at full travel if a longer stroke shock is used, so don't be tempted.

Our CC frames use the very best materials and production processes available. One of the goals for the Tallboy 6 project was to decrease weight and achieve very specific stiffness targets, and we wanted to extend these benefits to all price points.

The frame is UDH-compatible, but comes with our own machined aluminum hanger. You can replace it with another Santa Cruz hanger or a SRAM UDH.

The Tallboy comes with two bags - a tube purse and a tool wallet. You should be able to fit a superlight tube, a small pump, tire lever, and miscellaneous odds and ends in these two bags.

Tallboy comes standard with 180mm rear post mount, will accept rotors with an adapter up to 203mm

The chainstay length change occurs in the front triangles - we vary the pivot locations fore and aft to achieve the different lengths while using a single size swingarm. The chainstay lengths are frame size specific and cannot be modified.

The Tallboy is compatible with modern drivetrains, cabled or wireless. It's specifically designed for 55mm chainline cranks and has a 73mm threaded BB.

The Tallboy comes with a stick-on "shuttle guard" for the upper portion of the downtube, in case you plan to transport your bike on a truck tailgate pad. If you do, first clean the downtube with isopropyl alcohol and then install the protector appropriately for your tailgate dimensions.
