West Highland Way: Rab Wardell's Record Attempt
December 02 — 2020
Rab Wardell first walked the West Highland Way in 2007 as a recently retired 22-year-old professional mountain biker. Later he would return to attempt record times in 2011 and 2012 — finishing the route in around 12hrs and improving his time year over year.
Fast forward eight years later, add in a pandemic and a handful of competing record times set by other riders since 2012, and Rab had set his goals on going sub 10hrs on the 95 mile, 10k+ vertical foot route. Grab a beverage, settle in and watch his FKT journey from training in his house to crossing the finish amidst his beloved homeland.
A peek of Rab's record-setting and fully kitted Blur and all the numbers from his beastly 9:14:00 ride can be found in the gallery below.
