ALL THE TRAVEL AND MX WHEELS
Load up the van, hit the road, climb a mountain, hammer it back down, huck the gap, throw the bike back in the van, drive to the bike park and do laps on laps. Hell, you could even rock up to the startline of the world's wildest races. The Nomad’s forte is being ready and willing to go wherever, whenever. The only thing it needs is a rider willing to press send.

Frame Sizing
If you're on the cusp between the recommended height range of two sizes, the absolute best thing is to try to ride them both. At a minimum, check the stack/reach measurements on your current bike and compare it to the new model you are looking at to get an idea of a fit you are already comfortable with. If riding the bike is not an option, consider the following.
The Nomad is available in sizes small - extra extra large (S-XXL).
Personal Preference
A larger size frame will be more stable, and will give you more room to move without upsetting the weight-balance of the bike. The larger size will put the front wheel further in front of you, which gives the feeling of security and conversely, it will require more significant body movements when you WANT to shift the weight-bias of the bike. Think hard about your riding style and how active/intuitive you want it to be vs stable and speedy. You'll need to work a bit harder to muscle the larger bike around.
Body Dimension
Not all bodies at a given height are the same. If you have longer legs and a shorter torso than the average person your height, that may push you towards the smaller of the recommended sizes. If you're all torso and arms, most likely you'll want to size up.
FAQ's
What is the recommended fork?
The Nomad 6 geometry is based off of a 170mm fork with 44mm offset. We wouldn't recommend less travel than that, as the BB will get a bit low. Up to 180mm is fine if that's your preference.
Is there chainguide compatibility?
Yes, this bike is equipped with ISCG-05 tabs for easy chain guide mounting. Most guides/bash guards that follow the ISCG-05 standard should fit.
Can I convert the Nomad to full 29" or full 27.5"
No, the Nomad 6 is built exclusively for MX wheels - 29" up front, 27.5" in the rear. Trying to convert to other wheel sizes will negatively affect geometry, handling, and performance.
What kind of headset does this bike use?
This bike uses integrated headset cups. The upper up is 41mm and the lower cup is 52mm. The SHIS name is IS 41/28.6 IS 52/40.For Chris King this is a DropSet.3
Should I get the coil shock or the air shock?
There is a difference in feel between the two, but neither is better than the other- just different. The air shock is more progressive than the coil, which allows for a slightly softer setup without worrying about bottoming-out. This will generally offer a smoother ride, but one that can still be ridden very aggressively and not struggle. The suspension will also have a "poppier" and more playful ride, as the air shock will try to get you out of the deep part of travel.
The coil has a slightly more linear feel/ less bottom-out resistance, which encourages a firmer overall setup. This offers the maximum mid-stroke support for berms/park riding/ pushing into turns. If you like a firmer feel, you will probably prefer the coil. If you set the air shock up to offer a similar feel in the mid-stroke, you may struggle to achieve full travel.
These aren't huge differences, but they are enough that we wanted to offer both. Obviously, the air shock offers the advantages of being lighter and easier to tune, so this will be the right choice for the majority of riders.
I want to change my rear shock. Any limitations?
The Nomad was built to be compatible with all shocks on the market, both coil & air. We haven't tried some of the smaller obscure brands, but it fits anything from Fox and Rockshox. The correct size is 230x65 with 8x30mm hardware front and rear.
What size tire will fit in the frame?
Swingarm tire clearance is designed for 27.5" x 2.5" max
Should I ride in the High or Low shock flip-chip setting?
You should definitely try both, but we typically recommend starting in High. In the High setting, the bike rides a little higher in its travel and supplies the rider with more mid-stroke support. In the Low position, the shock rate becomes more progressive, particularly at the end of the stroke, and there’s some bottom-out resistance to be gained.
Does the Nomad 6 use the SRAM Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH)?
The frame is UDH-compatible, but comes with our own machined aluminum hanger. You can replace it with another Santa Cruz hanger or a SRAM UDH.
What can I store in the glovebox?
The Nomad 6 comes with two bags - a tube purse and a tool wallet. You should be able to fit a superlight tube, a small pump, tire lever, and misc odds and ends in these two bags.
What brake rotor sizes will fit in the rear?
Nomad 6 comes standard with 200mm rear post mount, will accept rotors with adapter up to 223mm
Is the Nomad 6 compatible with dual crown forks?
No. The Nomad 6 frame is super strong but it is not designed for the side impact loads that dual crown forks place on the frame during a crash. Stick with single crown forks exclusively.
