Volunteers and community engagement are the backbone of the Appalachian Mountain Bike Club's (AMBC) mission, "WE DIG TRAILS.” They've been digging trails for over a decade and have developed over 90 miles of trails in the greater Knoxville, TN, area. AMBC's partners over at The Drop Inn are expanding permanent trail access for the community by adding four new trails, including two rowdy, progressive, all-weather downhill trails that will provide users of all abilities with new experiences. Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance, the nation's largest statewide mountain bike association, is committed to sustainable recreation, trail maintenance, trail building, advocacy, education, volunteerism, and fostering an inclusive and welcoming community of riders. Evergreen received two Heckler ebikes through the PayDirt program for use by their trail crew to make their resources and efforts go further in maintaining their trail networks. BikeHouston is on a mission to transform their city into a place where anyone can safely and efficiently get around by bike regardless of who they are or where they live. PayDirt funds are helping to kickstart BikeHouston's redesign of their bike map, which will highlight the best places to ride in the Bayou City. The new map will identify off-street paths, low-stress on-street routes, and off-road facilities. It will also provide safety tips, local bike laws, and other resources for people on bikes. Santa Cruz Mountains Trail Stewardship provides sustainable trail advocacy, development and stewardship services that bridge the gap between land managers and the public through community engagement and volunteer deployment.

PayDirt is throwing down funds to help rebuild the Westside pumptrack with a state-of-the-art asphalt facility, as well as kick off their plan to open the Cotoni-Coast Dairies National Monument to the public with 25 miles of hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding trails. Ride Sheffield is an established mountain bike group with over 10 years history of successful projects in and around Sheffield and the Peak District. Their goal is to grow a community of riders in the local area and provide them with a variety of sustainable trails and and resources to build their skills.

The Oregon Timber Trail Alliance is dedicated to stewardship, education, community, and quality trail experiences throughout the Oregon Timber Trail corridor.

PayDirt funds are contributing to the Fugrass Connector Trail project, which will connect the Bunchgrass Ridge and Fuji Mountain Trails and finally close one of the few remaining gaps in a 100% singletrack route between two of of Oregon's premier mountain bike destinations: Oakridge and Bend. Red Rock Bicycle Co. partnered with the Greater Zion Tourism office and Visit Cedar City to create the Red Rock Trail Crew program, which is all about trail development and trail maintenance in Southern Utah. Indigenous Women Outdoors (IWO) mission is to hold a space for Indigenous women* and non-binary community members to come together through outdoor sports and feel safe on the land. PayDirt funding will go towards mountain bike programming in the Sea to Sky corridor—which includes a mentorship program to bring intermediate riders to the next level, guided social rides to get brand new riders into the sport, and bike maintenance workshops. The Nelson Mountain Bike Club is on a mission to make Nelson an exceptional place to ride a mountain bike by developing a repertoire of unique and natural trails in the area.

Together with PayDirt and the Nelson City Council, the club will be constructing a brand new descent in the Maitai Forest, which will boast over 9,800 feet of trail, making it one of New Zealand's longest single-track descents. Visit @nelsonmtb on Instagram.

The Chablais Bike Association was created by mountain bikers with the aim of developing mountain biking in the Chablais area, and as a way to unite the riders under one common name, allowing for easier contact with businesses and local organizations.

They are working hard to raise enough funds to build a pumptrack at the Morzine Town Hall, as well as regulate the circulation of mountain bikers in the small, but busy town of Morzine. Visit @chablais_bike on Instagram.

Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship's mission is building sustainable recreation-based communities through stewardship, job creation, world-class events, and quality outdoor experiences supported by trail construction and maintenance in the Lost Sierra.

PayDirt funds are helping to kick off their Connected Communities project, which will link 15 towns within four economically disadvantaged counties in the Sierra-Nevada Mountains of California, creating some 300 miles of motorized and non-motorized dirt trails. Visit @sierratrails on Instagram.

The Tweed Valley Trails Association (TVTA) is a Scottish based organization which was set up to develop a culture of responsible trail use and management within the local mountain biking community.

TVTA will be using their PayDirt grant to renovate and improve the Reservoir climb, which gives access to the majority of the Golfy trails in the area, and will be a huge benefit not only to the riding community, but also to walkers and equestrians. They will also be subsidizing the cost for 8 trail builders to complete a Trail Inspection and Volunteer management course so that they can then train more volunteers to get more trail work done in the correct and most efficient way. Enduro Jura is born with the initial objective to organize enduro races in their local community. Gradually, more people got involved and the amount of trail work they needed to complete grew with it.

Their main goal is to mark and maintain all the trails in their network, and to allow people to ride freely and safely as well as to make sure that every volunteer as a tool in one hand and a beer in the other. Ridgeline was founded with the vision to create a totally new playground for mountain bikes in the Garfagnana area, an undiscovered part of Tuscany in northern Italy.

PayDirt will help Ridgeline's association fund their grand plan of creating a new public access trail network for bike tourism. Together with the government bodies of Garfagnana and the National Parks of the area, the association's goal is to get more outdoor enthusiasts to experience this unique spot, and to generate positive impact for the local community and its many traditional local businesses. The Land Trust of Santa Cruz County is dedicated to protecting and caring for working lands, like farms, timberland, and natural areas with high conservation value – thus protecting water supplies, wildlife habitats, and open space.

Their San Vicente Redwoods project is a newly created open space preserve that will eventually be home to more than 38 miles of mountain bike-accessible trails that run from the Pacific Ocean to the crest of the Santa Cruz mountain range. With the help of Santa Cruz Bicycles and PayDirt, as well as their local trail organization Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz, the park is slated to open to the public in 2021.
