Santa Cruz and MBOSC Dig Day in Wilder Ranch State Park

Diciembre 07 — 2015

Santa Cruz Bicycle employees and members of Santa Cruz Factory Racing were up bright and early Saturday, December 5 to add a little muscle revamping a much-loved trail just a pedal away from the Santa Cruz Factory.

Accountants, production staff, and managers joined California State Parks and volunteers from Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz to help finalize the last stage of the reroute of the Enchanted Loop Trail in Wilder Ranch State Park in Santa Cruz.  A favorite among those looking for a little extra mileage, the trail provides a fast and technical descent, but a slog of a climb out. The new three-quarter-mile route gives riders a gentler climb with some flowy sections and gorgeous scenery.

“This is our back yard and we want to give back to both the riders and the other trail users,” said Dan O'Connor, who works in the Santa Cruz Bicycles’ Sales Department and sits on the MBoSC Board. “We really want people to understand that MBoSC is more than just about riding. It’s about getting out there and building and repairing, being part of a good atmosphere, and creating a community between all trail users.”

Close to 50 volunteers pitched in, including Santa Cruz staff members Kyle Harder, Don Palermini, Dan O'Connor, Renee Cerruti, Sam Markling, and Scott Chapin.

“We just feel work like this is the right thing to do,” explained Don Palermini, North American Marketing Manager for Santa Cruz Bicycles , as he sipped on a cool beer after a long day in the mud. “We and a lot of our employees believe that it’s our responsibility to be involved in this. We love the trails and we should really be stewards.”
