    Santa Cruz Mountains Trail Stewardship

    The Santa Cruz Mountains Trail Stewardship (previously known as "Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz") provides sustainable trail advocacy, development and stewardship services that bridge the gap between land managers and the public through community engagement and volunteer deployment.

    PayDirt is throwing down funds to help kick off their Trails Relief Fund which will build back their community of trails after the CZU August Lightning Complex Fire that started in the mountains just outside of Santa Cruz on August 16. Their PayDirt grant will also contribute to their plan to rebuild the Westside pumptrack with a state-of-the-art asphalt facility. Visit @santacruztrails on Instagram.

    GROW CYCLING FOUNDATION

    Grow Cycling Foundation was established to create new avenues for inclusive community building and career development in the cycling industry as well as to empower existing programs working to tear down the barriers to entry in cycling for marginalized communities.

    PayDirt funds are helping to kick off Phase One for Grow Cycling, which is to build a pumptrack to serve as an offline community hub that will be an entry point for people take cycling to the next level. This is a long-term journey and Grow Cycling Foundation is also looking to provide education, access, and opportunities to tear down the barriers to entry in cycling for marginalized communities.     CHABLAIS BIKE ASSOCIATION

    The Chablais Bike Association was created by mountain bikers with the aim of developing mountain biking in the Chablais area, and as a way to unite the riders under one common name, allowing for easier contact with businesses and local organizations.

    They are working hard to raise enough funds to build a pumptrack at the Morzine Town Hall, as well as regulate the circulation of mountain bikers in the small, but busy town of Morzine. Visit @chablais_bike on Instagram.

    NorCal High School Cycling League

    The NorCal High School Cycling League develops and produces inclusive interscholastic high school mountain biking programs in Northern California, which help teens build strong body, mind, and character.

    PayDirt funds will be used to grow their NorCal Teen Trail Corp program, to create DEI (Diversity, Equality, Inclusion) education tools for their coaches, and to expand their GRiT [Girls Riding Together] program to include ten female ambassadors from diverse geographic regions who represent diverse racial identity and diverse body types.     CINCINNATI OFF ROAD ALLIANCE

    Cincinnati Off-Road Alliance was founded by a group of dedicated riders with the purpose of building and advocating for more miles of off-road trails. Today, CORA maintains 100 miles of multi-use natural surface trails for mountain bikers, hikers and trail runners.

    Together with Cincinnati Parks, CORA is working hard to raise enough funds to build a high-quality skills park in the Mt. Airy area with the main goal of getting more kids on bikes. Their PayDirt grant will contribute to their on-going fundraising efforts. Visit @coramtb on Instagram.

    SIERRA BUTTES TRAIL STEWARDSHIP

    Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship's mission is building sustainable recreation-based communities through stewardship, job creation, world-class events, and quality outdoor experiences supported by trail construction and maintenance in the Lost Sierra.

    PayDirt funds are helping to kick off their Connected Communities project, which will link 15 towns within four economically disadvantaged counties in the Sierra-Nevada Mountains of California, creating some 300 miles of motorized and non-motorized dirt trails.     PayDirt Grantee: Whistler Off Road Cycling Association (WORCA)

    Whistler Off Road Cycling Association (WORCA) works hard every year to sanction events that bring the mountain biking community together, foster the evolution of the sport through youth programs, and employ experienced trail builders and staff to construct, maintain, and advocate for Whistler’s mountain bike trails.

    WORCA received two Heckler e-bikes through the PayDirt program for use by their trail crew in order to make their resources and efforts go further in maintaining their trail networks. Visit @worcawhistler on Instagram.

    NELSON MTB CLUB

    PayDirt Grantee: Nelson Mountain Bike Club

    The Nelson Mountain Bike Club is on a mission to make Nelson an exceptional place to ride a mountain bike by developing a repertoire of unique and natural trails in the area.

    Together with PayDirt and the Nelson City Council, the club will be constructing a brand new descent in the Maitai Forest, which will boast over 9,800 feet of trail, making it one of New Zealand's longest single-track descents. Visit @nelsonmtb on Instagram.

    TWEED VALLEY TRAIL ASSOCIATION

    The Tweed Valley Trails Association (TVTA) is a Scottish based organization which was set up to develop a culture of responsible trail use and management within the local mountain biking community.

    TVTA will be using their PayDirt grant to renovate and improve the Reservoir climb, which gives access to the majority of the Golfy trails in the area, and will be a huge benefit not only to the riding community, but also to walkers and equestrians. They will also be subsidizing the cost for 8 trail builders to complete a Trail Inspection and Volunteer management course so that they can then train more volunteers to get more trail work done in the correct and most efficient way.     HandleBar is a 100% locally owned and operated craft beer and apres cafe located on the dark side (Blackcomb) of Whistler, BC. Their "Buy a Trail Builder a Beer" program supports their local unsung heroes that work day in and day out on some of the best trails in the Valley.

    NORTHWEST NORTH CAROLINA MOUNTAIN BIKE ALLIANCE

    PayDirt Grantee: Northwest North Carolina Mountain Bike Alliance (The Alliance)

    Northwest North Carolina Mountain Bike Alliance (The Alliance) promotes land access, trail preservation, and new trail development on federal, state, and local lands for the communities of Boone, Hickory, Lenoir, Marion, Morganton, and Wilkesboro.

    Together with PayDirt and the US Forest Service, The Alliance will be renovating the popular Yancey Ridge Trail in the up and coming Grandfather District of Pisgah National Forest. Yancey’s length is only 4.8 miles, but it is also part of a 13-mile backcountry loop that includes a scenic section of the North Carolina Mountains-to-Sea Trail, and is perhaps one of the most challenging trails in the region.     Trail Network Markings and Maintenance for the community in Haut-Jura

    Enduro Jura is born with the initial objective to organize enduro races in their local community. Gradually, more people got involved and the amount of trail work they needed to complete grew with it.

    Their main goal is to mark and maintain all the trails in their network, and to allow people to ride freely and safely as well as to make sure that every volunteer as a tool in one hand and a beer in the other.     Ridgeline was founded with the vision to create a totally new playground for mountain bikes in the Garfagnana area, an undiscovered part of Tuscany in northern Italy.

    PayDirt will help Ridgeline's association fund their grand plan of creating a new public access trail network for bike tourism. Together with the government bodies of Garfagnana and the National Parks of the area, the association's goal is to get more outdoor enthusiasts to experience this unique spot, and to generate positive impact for the local community and its many traditional local businesses.     CYPRESS CHARTER HIGH SCHOOL

    The Cypress Mountain Bike Club, is an after school organization at Cypress Charter High, an alternative education high school in Santa Cruz. Their main goals are to get students out on bicycles safely, teach bicycle maintenance, educate the students on trail etiquette, expose them to different jobs in the cycling industry, and provide them with a new way to appreciate the beautiful environment we live in.

    The Club received bikes through the PayDirt program for use by the students to understand and appreciate their surrounding environment, take on personal responsibility, and build community.

    LAND TRUST OF SANTA CRUZ COUNTY

    PayDirt Grantee: Land Trust of Santa Cruz County

    The Land Trust of Santa Cruz County is dedicated to protecting and caring for working lands, like farms, timberland, and natural areas with high conservation value – thus protecting water supplies, wildlife habitats, and open space.

    Their San Vicente Redwoods project is a newly created open space preserve that will eventually be home to more than 38 miles of mountain bike-accessible trails that run from the Pacific Ocean to the crest of the Santa Cruz mountain range. With the help of Santa Cruz Bicycles and PayDirt, as well as their local trail organization Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz, the park is slated to open to the public in 2021.     MOAB TRAIL MIX

    Moab Trail Mix (officially known as the Grand County Trails) partners with local land managers to design, build, and maintain trails around Moab, Utah.

    Moab Trail Mix is funneling their PayDirt funds towards constructing phase two of the new Raptor Route, which will create 9 miles of new singletrack with a stunning view over canyon country. The route will provide riders with an intermediate-level alternative to the Porcupine Rim Singletrack section of Moab’s famous Whole Enchilada route. Visit @moabtrailmix on Instagram.
