Blur 5 MY27

The Blur geometry is designed for a 120mm fork with 44mm offset. We wouldn't recommend less travel than that, as the BB will get a bit low. Up to 130mm is ok if that's your preference. The Fox 34 SL forks we spec on many of the kits can be internally raised to 130mm with a new air spring assembly.

The Blur is built to be compatible with most XC shocks on the market, including the Fox Float, Fox Float SL and Rockshox Deluxe & SID (including Flight Attendant). Downhill/Enduro shocks like the Vivid or Fox X2 are not compatible. The correct size is 190x45 with 8x20mm hardware.

This bike uses integrated headset cups. The upper cup is 41mm and the lower cup is 52mm. The SHIS name is IS 41/28.6 IS 52/40. For Chris King this is a DropSet.3

The Blur comes with a custom OneUp upper chainguide. There are no ISCG-05 tabs on this model.

The Blur will safely fit a 2.4" rear tire.

All Blur 5's have two water bottle mounts- one on the seattube and one on the downtube.

The frame is UDH-compatible, but comes with our own machined aluminum hanger. You can replace it with another Santa Cruz hanger or a SRAM UDH.

Our CC frames use the very best materials and production processes available. One of the goals for the Blur 5 project was to minimize weight and achieve very specific stiffness targets, and we wanted to extend these benefits to all price points.

The Blur comes with two bags - a tube purse and a tool wallet. You should be able to fit a superlight tube, a small pump, tire lever, and miscellaneous odds and ends in these two bags.

The chainstay length change occurs in the front triangles - we vary the pivot locations fore and aft to achieve the different lengths while using a single size swingarm. The chainstay lengths are frame size specific and cannot be modified.

Blur 5 is built specifically for 180mm rear rotors- no other sizes will fit.

The Blur is compatible with modern drivetrains, cabled or wireless. It's specifically designed for 55mm chainline cranks and has a 73mm threaded BB.

The Blur 5 has tube-in-tube cable routing for droppers, rear derailleur, and rear brake. This provides very easy maintenance, eliminates rattles, and keeps the Glovebox storage cavity nice and tidy. You'll only need foam tubes in the chainstay for the mechanical derailleur cable routing or if you are running a cable lockout to the rear shock. We don't use thru-headset routing or any other "innovation" that will make your life difficult.

The Blur 5 is all new from the ground up, and none of the larger frame parts (front triangle, rear triangle, link) are cross-compatible. The shocks are the same dimensions but are tuned differently. The Blur 4&5 do share bearings and some other small hardware.

The Blur Race kits are very specifically meant for XC racing, and include either remote lockouts (GX AXS Race) or automatic lockouts (XX Flight Attendant). We also spec faster-rolling tires and shock tunes that prioritize efficiency and support. A 60mm stem and flat bar provide a racy, fast position. The non-Race kits are a bit more all-around- equally at home XC riding as they are entering a race. The suspension is slightly more trail-tuned, and the tires have more bite to allow for more capability. 50mm stems and riser bars provide a more comfortable position for all-day rides and confident descending.

The Blur 5 complete bikes have a maximum rider weight that is determined by the fork and other components that have been specified on the bike builds. In this case it's 239 lbs or 108kg. For riders over that weight it is recommended to upgrade the fork to something with a higher Max Permissible Payload rating. The frame itself has a maximum rider weight of 271lbs or 123 kg.
