When did you start racing/how long have you been racing?

I've been passionate about bikes my whole life and dabbled in a few cycling events while growing up, including a 24 hour solo. Over the past five years, I've started to get more serious about racing and shifted my focus to Enduro. It encompasses what I love about riding bikes- adventure, skill set and athleticism wrapped up in one discipline.

What's your favorite race to participate in? Spectate?

I love adventure style races such as Trans Provence and Andes Pacifico. The atmosphere, blind racing and adventure makes for a pretty unforgettable experience. As for one day events, you cant beat the trails and crowds of Crankworx. It is also my favourite week to spectate.

What¹s one thing you take with you on every bike ride (aside from the obvious bike, shoes, etc)

Good nutrition, I have been seen out on the trails with a ziplock bag full of pesto pasta in my jersey pocket or even pockets full of almonds. Whole foods are my favourite and keep me going longer.

Tight and technical or high-speed and wide-open?

I originally came to B.C. for the steep and technical terrain. Most of the local trails on Vancouver's North Shore are very technical, which I love. However, I also enjoy switching it up to ride fast, wide open trails in surrounding areas such as the Pemberton in the Sea to Sky Corridor.

What¹s your favorite non-bike activity?

Hmm, hard to pick just one. I enjoy water sports inlcuding wakeboarding and surfing. I also like the challenge of trying new activities and learning new skills, spending time with family and friends and relaxing.

What are your feelings on skin suits?

Far from ideal, and definitely don't need to be worn by men hurlting down the sides of mountains. Personally I prefer having a little bit more protection.

Now that you have titanium implanted in your elbow, you¹re a cyborg. Terminator or Six Million Dollar Man?

Hmm, that's a tough call, Terminator is pretty bad ass.

How did you meet Dylan Wolsky?

I met Dylan in Whistler, my first year in Canada. He was also racing his trusty hard tail in all disciplines. We'd often be battling it out for the win at the local XC and DH events, from there we started

riding together as he too was keen on epic adventure rides and the challenge of riding the burliest terrain we could find on our trail bikes.

Where did you grow up? How did that impact where you've gone in your life?

I grew up in a small town north of Wellington, New Zealand. As kids my friends and I had a lot of freedom growing up with the ocean and mountains as our back yard. We would be pIaying outdoors from dawn until dusk which likley fostered my sense of adventure, love of the outdoors and thrill seeking nature.

What¹s your favorite pre-race meal?

Ideally, I like to start out the day with some cereal, fruit, eggs and avocado on toast and a good cup of coffee.

Life motto?

Learn, love, inspire and ride fast
