2017 Santa Cruz Andes Pacifico - Day 2

Gary Perkin

"I saw wild horses, condors, a hawk and a rabbit today! Good fun on the bike today." - Santa Cruz Sports Marketing Manager Allan Cooke

With just two stages today it was tough to claw any time back on the leaders ... but the long stages provided ample opportunity to lose time too! From Iago, "a tough day out there for me. I caught a support moto on the first stage and got roosted a few times while trying to pass it every time he came to a tech section. The second stage was tough for me - I just couldn't commit to the loose turns at the bottom and lost time there. "

The first stage was a new one to the Andes Pacifico and started from about 2900m above sea level with the Neveda Ski Resort in the distance. It rolled past traditional cowboy huts and wild horses ran alongside riders during the liaison.

The second stage revisited last years final stage of day 2 dropping us straight down the valley past tons of cacti and back to the river which leads back to the Antawaya campsite which has been our home for the past three days.
