Factory Racing Heads to Mt. Bachelor

August 25 — 2015

The boys that build the bikes came out swinging Sunday, with Santa Cruz Factory Racing tearing it up at the Mt. Bachelor Enduro. Set at the picturesque and recently opened Mt. Bachelor Resort in Bend, OR, the course was loose and dry, tough conditions with which the racers are all too familiar. “The course was fun, but really blown out,” said team rider Kyle Bowman. “There were moon dust and lava rocks everywhere. People were washing out in the huge sand berms; it was pretty hard to rail any turns.” The third race in the Oregon Enduro Series, the August 23rd throw down promised plenty of hurt, but the in-house team and party squad always manage to do something fun and fast with bikes.

Kyle Bowman brought the style and stayed steady throughout the roughly 12-mile race, taking 8th in Expert Men 19-39, followed by Jeff Shen in 12th, and Sam Markling in 19th. “I rode pretty smooth with no crashes or big mistakes. Just need to work on my fitness,” Bowman commented after the race.

Allan Cooke and Scott Chapin made a mess of the course in Pro Men, taking 10th and 13th, keeping their competition and the spectators entertained. "It was a small event, but it was a good time," commented team captain Scott Chapin. "It was great that we had a bunch of first timers up there."

Aaron Cole, in his second race ever, crushed it and took 4th in the Beginner Men Open.

As always, a special thanks to Verve Coffee Roasters and El Salchichero for keeping our racers fed and caffeinated!
