Rallycat Recap

April 06 — 2015 | Santa Cruz, CA

Meat, beers, and bike racing

Santa Cruz Bicycles hosted our first-ever Rallycat on Friday. What's a Rallycat? It's all the chaos and party of an alleycat (checkpoints, no defined route, feats of strength), but on dirt instead of the urban jungle. El Salchichero provided sausages for the grill, and the race was timed to coincide with the Wrigley Building's First Friday event. Scott Chapin was the first to return with a completed manifest, making use of his local trail knowledge along with superhuman beer drinking and bike riding skills. The women's field was small but hotly contested, with a sprint to the counter to deliver the manifests.

The first 18 riders under the bridge had the option to take a "bonus beer," which they could trade in for a set of grips after the race

Thanks to everyone who came out and raced, and a special thanks to El Salchichero for providing prizes and grill-ables for the ride. If you're in the area, keep your eyes and ears peeled for the next Rallycat. It'll be a different course, and just as much fun!
