Jason Marsh

Jason Marsh makes sure that Minnaar's race bikes are up to Greg's exacting standards. Oh, and he also invented the Marsh Guard, which you may have seen on about half of all the bikes that head downhill at the World Cup. We sent him a few questions,

Where are you from, and how did you get into bikes/bike racing?

Raumati, New Zealand, My buddy Simon from Hamilton got me into it.

How did you become Greg’s race mechanic, and how long have you been doing that job?

I have been working for World Cup teams since 2001, full time since 2007. I’ve been with Syndicate since 2012.

You invented Marsh Guards —obviously an invention born of necessity, but what did the early prototypes look like?

The first ones were made from old number boards for sale signs, the shape has evolved over 5 years to become what it is now. We have a new shape out soon, better suited to 27.5 wheels

Aside from the Marsh Guard, what’s your favorite equipment hack?

Tubeless tires

What’s your favorite memory from your time on the World Cup tour?

Getting a ride in a Ferrari and Greg's World Champs win on his home track.

What’s one thing you can’t leave without when you’re traveling?

Bose noise cancelling headphones
