The thrasher's all-terrain play machine.

The 5010 is the most fun you can have on two off-road wheels, and Danny MacAskill’s wee bike of choice. Turning trails into pumptracks and logs into launches this bike begs to spend as much time above the ground as on it.

A laser sharp, agile trail whip that turns on a dime and loves to pop and play. The 130mm-travel 5010 sports short chainstays and a low BB for a uniquely playful character and an insatiable appetite for negotiating steep, technical climbs. When it’s time to descend, the bike’s 66.2/66.5-degree head tube angle (adjusted via flip chip) and generous reach/short stem combo equate to precise, confident handling.

This short-travel pocket rocket is packaged to be fast and nimble yet tough enough to take a beating. From dirt to rocky tech, 4X to BMX, this bike doesn’t give a XXXX what you do with it.

The 5010’s balance and poise takes riders from uncertain neophyte to fledging flyboy. While some bikes are good at going up and down the 5010 is a bike that’s great at going up, down, left, right, triangle, square, up, up, up and away!

The upper-link driven shock VPP suspension is configured to be sharp and responsive. A firm beginning stroke makes for a responsive, snappy pedaling and provides support for small bump, bump-jump playfulness, while the progressive curve offers the bottom-out resistance to make it feel like there’s a lot more travel than there actually is.

There’s also more than enough tire clearance to run just about any size tire. We spec a variety of tire/rim combos, including 2.6-inch tires on Reserve 37 rims because we feel it’s the sweet spot of rock crawling traction and sportiness, but there’s room to run 2.8-inch tires if that’s your thing.

It’s considered the deep cut in the Santa Cruz range by the riders, like Danny MacAskill, who really know. While people busily overbike, 5010 owners get to the source. It’s the thrasher’s tool.

Tech Support

The geometry chart shows two settings- how do I adjust that?

There's a "flip chip" on the lower link where the shock mounts.  Just remove the lower shock bolt and flip the chips to the setting you desire

Can I mount a chainguide to my bike?

Yes, this bike is equipped with ISCG-05 tabs for easy chainguide mounting. Most chainguides on the market that are made for this standard should work.

Can I put a front derailleur on?

No, this bike is not compatible with front derailleurs.

I want to put the shock from my old bike on there, can I do that?

We always recommend the stock shock, as we've spent a lot of time tuning for each particular frame. But if you must, these are the specifics you need to keep in mind:
210x50 Metric shock
30x8mm rear hardware (bearing compatible) 20x8 front hardware

Is this bike coil shock compatible?

A coil shock will fit in the 5010, but we generally recommend an air shock as they are more progressive and tuneable.

What kind of headset does this bike use?

This bike uses integrated headset cups. The upper up is 41mm and the lower cup is 52mm. The SHIS name is IS 41/28.6 IS 52/40.

What kind of rear brake mount does it use?

This bike uses a 180mm post mount. You cannot run a smaller rotor than that. If using 180mm rotor, your caliper will bolt straight to the mount. For 200 or 203 rotors you will need a 20mm or 23mm Post Mount adapter

What's the difference between the "Plus" version and the "regular" version?

The 5010 will fit up to 27.5x2.8" tires, but we sell it in two configurations:
"Normal" configuration comes with 2.3" tires on 27mm rims. This setup will offer the most precise handling, and is your best bet if you prioritize responsiveness and low rolling resistance. The rims will work well with tires up to 2.5" wide.
"Plus" configuration comes with 2.6" tires front and rear, on 35-37mm rims (depending on kit). These tires offer a good combination of grip/cushion without giving up too much in the way of support and precision. The rims will also work excellently with 2.8" tires if you're after the true rock-crawling Plus experience.

Where can I demo the newest model of this bike?

We’ll have the newest version available for demo at the Factory in Santa Cruz, California. We also suggest contacting your local Santa Cruz retailer to check for demo availability in your area.

Won't my BB be too high if I put 2.8" tires on my bike?

Thanks to the flip-chip on the link, you can adjust the bb height to account for the different tire diameters. You can achieve the same bb height with the plus configuration as you do with the standard one.
