  1. Thanks for all your support from Bach Builders. We know how much Josh loves racing
and will always support him and his racing career. At-least people like you know how hard he works and that’s all that matters. I could not believe the media and lack of information
about the race. Well soon people will realize the same thing we do, that you will never find a more gifted endurance mountian biker in this life time.
    Cheers David Bach.

  2. Right backatcha, David Bach. Thank YOU for your support of Josh. He’s a class act.

  3. With your Tallboy build kits, are Fox or Rockshox offering the same offset (if not your purchased package will change the handling of the bike as F29 runs a 44mm offset and the new Rebas 29 [2009/2010] have gone to a 46mm offset (but the measurement seems to come out to about 4mm difference in my informal measurements.) I know this is really common depending on builds and the biggest change is 100/120mm fork but this might matter to picky short guys like me. Not so much for the tall boys.

  4. I run an 80mm SID team here in the Midwest for XC racing. While 100 or 120mm is recommended for the carbon blur, can I run an 80mm on the xc carbon? What will it do to the handling of the bike — will I even notice? Cat 2 pack fodder weekend warrior racer on a medium frame.

  5. well, at a guess i’d say your bike will stick a bit better on really steep and technical switchback uphill climbing, but at the expense of being a wee bit “tucky” at speed. you’ll also have to contend with more pedal strikes on uneven terrain. but to be perfectly honest, i haven’t ridden an 80mm fork on the new xc myself, so i don’t really know how it would pan out. why not give it a try and report back?

  6. Thanks Darl Lord. Problem is, I will never be able to compare two bikes with each set up for an apples to apples (without switching forks, etc). Can you direct me to any Wisconsin or Chicago area shops that have the XC? I can’t find one to touch and feel anywhere — at least if I found one set up with a 100mm, I could straddle it and get a feel for it. Thanks again…can’t wait to get one, just want to make sure I optimize the fit and feel.

  7. It is nice to see you enjoying your Tallboy. When in the world will I get mine? I placed an order for a XL the week you started taking orders. I was told that delivery would be happening in Sept, right after interbike. And now, after month by month slips in delivery, my shop is saying maybe January? I have a suggestion. It would ge great if you kept your public informed of progress on delivery. That way I would not have to pester my bike shop, and we can vent on Santa Cruz instead of making the LBS guys feel bad.

  8. ^ what shawns said – i know NZ is a pimple on the arse of the world but its summer, i’m down to my last 4 bikes FFS and no sign of my Tallboy (M) – don’t care what colour. i neeeeed it soon pleeeeeeese, my bank manager seems to think I am actually saving. First October, then Nov, then in time for under the Xmas tree, now Jan. I’ve got a 1200km race in Feb and my arse needs something soft to sit on, my wife is unavailable to be sat on at that time apparently…..

  9. Hi Guys, Ive been riding my new Blur xc for about 3 months now and am extremly happy with it, my top axle on top pivot happened to break, has anybody had similar problems?
I have taken photos if anyones interested?

  10. you might want to drop an email to our boy willie in the warranty department, since nobody really reads this blog except me.

    best of luck.

  11. when is the 7inch vpp design coming out, or do i have to buy an asr 7?

  12. How can Roskopp’s Tallboy be so freaking LIGHT??? I just got mine, a Large also, with full XTR, Avid Elixir CR Mags, Truvativ Noir cranks, Monkeylight SL bar and EA90 stem, Rocket V STL saddle on a Thomson post, superlight Ti chain, Stan’s Arch rims (tubeless) on XT hubs and DT spokes, with the Fox RP23 and F29 cushions, and it still tops 27 lbs! What gives?

  13. about yesterday’s blog post – :D ogs, Tricks, What Have You…”
    A’foking-men…preach on brutha…

  14. On that 2/12 post showing wier’s bikes, that sure appears to be 180-200mm travel singlecrown on both those bikes… Looks Verified by comparing that Nomad’s 8.5 E2E to the length of fork stension showing… Hope to see those forks soon!

  15. I have a 2006 Blur XC and I am looking to make the bike more steep terrain friendly. Can the frame handle a 120mm or 140mm fork? I weight about 150 lbs.

    thanks

  16. i cannot recommend doing that, especially if you are implying going to a 140mm fork. not only will your bike’s handling suffer everywhere except going in a straight line, you are going to be subjecting the front end of the bike to a far greater stress load than it was designed for. we specifically state with the older blur XC that using a fork longer than a designated 100mm travel is an act that will void your warranty.

if you really want a steep-terrain friendly bike, it might be time to consider something different, since the original blur xc was designed more to be a traditional XC race weapon, with hairy technical terrain performance not really in the goalset for that particular applicatin.

  17. The Carbon Nomad looks sweet!! Any thoughts on a 29″ hardtail single speed?, i.e. big brother to the Chameleon? Do you guys welcome visitor’s to the shop? Going to be in Scott’s Valley this summer.
